Sunday Brunch at The Recess Room

Sundays got a new brunch in town...


Located in the heart of North OC, not too far off the 405 freeway Brookhurst exit, is The Recess Room and they are launching a brunch menu starting Sunday, August 6th! We've been hearing all the latest crave about the froze (made with sparkling rose) and when we saw they had it here, we couldn't resist trying it!


That beautiful piece of watermelon art is their Jolly Rancher cocktail and it made everyone's mouths drop. I mean, can you blame them? If you love pretty drinks and tasty dishes then this place is totally for you! From their 24-Carrot Diamond cocktail (yes, it has real carrot juice in it) to the flavorful chilaquiles that comes with a hint of a spicy kick to the most beautiful avocado toast, each item on their brunch menu is sure to satisfy your tastebuds.

Kelly and I dined outside in the patio area and it was the perfect Sunday afternoon to enjoy the SoCal breeze. Plus their outdoor decor was super cute and almost felt like we were on a mini vacation!

This past weekend we got to preview the upcoming brunch dishes and each one made our eye light up and our stomachs even happier. The smoked salmon benedict was cooked to perfection with major egg yolk action and I'm usually not a shrimp & grits kind-of-person but this one was actually pretty tasty!


Sometimes one of the best things you try is last. Their avocado toast is cooked at 63 degree celcius so the egg white and egg yolk both cooks at the same time. Plus, as a delightful surprise, there's goat cheese inside the squash blossom!


Let's not forget the chicken & waffles. They took a twist here by breading the chicken before frying it and pairing it with a kimchi waffle along with lots and lots of whipped honey butter. Kelly really loved this super soft butter and probably would've eaten the whole thing if she could (lol)! It was that addicting.

If you decide to order the 24-Carrot Diamond cocktail, it comes with a single large ice cube with the "R" initial (for Recess Room - duh) on it and garnished with light herbs. I'm a big fan of drinks served with these big ice cubes and, although, a carrot drink with carrot juice didn't quite sound appetizing at first, it actually helped balanced the meal.

Another bonus: they have bottomless mimomas! That's right. Grab your gals and pamper yourself to a fun girls day out at this hot new brunch spot!
